Philanthropies to Support The Big Payback

We are so excited for the Big Payback! It’s coming up on May 2nd so we want to make sure everyone is as prepared and excited as we are! There are hundreds of wonderful non-profits participating in this event. We hope you do your research and choose causes to support. Donation links will be added to each organizations page the day of the Big Payback for you to be able to participate! If you are looking for some ideas, we would love to share organizations that are near and dear to the Parks’ Family!


1. Nashville Humane Association

The Humane Society is a well-known, well-respected, and established non-profit in our area that does wonderful work protecting and saving our furry friends! Their Community Foundation profile gives amazing amounts of information about how much they need to raise to keep their programs running. They operated off a little over 2 million dollars last year. In order to keep their awesome programs running, consider donating to them during The Big Payback!


 
Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) works with veterans and says their visions is, “connecting, serving, and empowering the wounded men and women who so bravely volunteered to serve our nation….” You can read about their financial needs here.

The Second Harvest Food Bank seeks to feed the hungry and help solve “hunger issues in our community.” Last year, they spent $83 million on their programs providing food to the hungry. You can see their exact financial situation, as well as more info, here!

The Boys & Girls Club does SO much for our local youth. If you are unfamiliar with the program, they match up mentors with young people in the effort to encourage them and help them reach their goals. To sustain their programs, they need to bring in $2.3 million. You can read more about their program specifics here!

Friends of Tennessee School for the Blind works with state resources to provide “educational, vocational, skills, and social development” for students at the Tennessee School for the Blind. Last year, they needed $68 million to continue operating.

If you have been to any of our Parks offices around the holidays, you have probably seen one of the donation bins for Soules4Souls! We are proud to partner with this organization that is working to eradicate poverty. They distribute shoes and clothing all around the world and their headquarters are located in Nashville! They operate with expenses totally at $69 million. You can see their specifics here.

Though a part of a national organization, you can support the local branch of Habitat for Humanity! They work to build homes for families throughout Middle Tennessee. They project their yearly expenses to be $14 million. Read more here!

Preston Taylor Ministries works to empower children and youth through a variety of programs. They provide mentorship programs, after-school care, camps, and health and wellness classes. They estimate their expenses to be a little over $1 million. Read more here.

9. United Way
United Way of Williamson County and United Way of Wilson County and the Upper Cumberland are both participating in The Big Payback this year! This national organization works to serve local populations by promoting health, education, and financial stability. The Williamson County branch estimated their expenses last year to be $4.5 million. In Wilson County, their operating budget is $4.23 million. The Nashville Rescue Mission works diligently to serve the homeless population in Nashville. They provide services and food for anyone in need. They operate off of a budget just shy of 10 million and would greatly appreciate your help! You can read about their financial needs here.
